Sasha Weiss, DO
Psychiatrist
Dr. Sasha Weiss is a board-certified psychiatrist who is passionate about providing integrative psychiatric treatment for older adults in the community. She evaluates and treats older adults in the Stony Brook Center of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of mental health and memory loss concerns among older adults. Her background in psychiatry and neuroscience from her residency training at Stony Brook gives her a unique perspective to treat older adults with general psychiatric disorders and neuropsychiatric disorders using a holistic and evidence-based approach. Dr. Weiss’s clinical areas of expertise include general psychiatric conditions, such as mood disorders and anxiety disorders; as well as cognitive disorders/neuropsychiatric disorders, such as mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, and frontotemporal dementia. She has a special interest in the roles that healthy aging, nutritional intervention, and mind-body integration serve in fostering wellness, and integrates this education into the compassionate care she provides.
Dr. Weiss is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health in the Renaissance School of Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience and Behavior from Columbia University and obtained her medical degree at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Psychiatry Residency training at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital and Stony Brook University Hospital through Stony Brook Eastern Long Island’s psychiatry residency program, where she served as chief resident in her final year.
